A European patent application entitled “Façade panel reinforcement” has been published (EP4675057A1), arising from work carried out within the MASS-IPV project under Work Package 5.
The solution described in the published patent application addresses structural reinforcement challenges in façade systems with limited load-bearing capacity, such as commonly used sandwich panels. The concept also shows applicability for reinforced façade panels, contributing to improved structural behaviour under demanding conditions, including fire performance testing scenarios.
This result reflects the project’s activities aimed at advancing integrated photovoltaic solutions for buildings and infrastructure, with particular attention to structural integrity, safety considerations, and compatibility with existing construction typologies.
The development forms part of MASS-IPV’s collaborative research efforts to support the wider uptake of building-integrated and infrastructure-integrated photovoltaics across Europe.
Further technical and exploitation-related aspects of this result will be addressed within the project’s dedicated exploitation activities.
